Book Reviews & Thoughts |
Goodreads Synopsis: The viral video. The two-faced usurper with a crippling agenda. And the silver-tongued stalker with a surprisingly big heart. My brother Bryn razzes me about it. And once my other brothers find out, they do it, too. But it can’t be helped. I find myself sitting at the bottom of Bryn’s driveway almost every day since she moved in. This beautiful woman has no idea who I am, until I run into her in the grocery store, and she waits for me at the exit. I’m a dead man. And then I find out that she knows everything about me and more. It’s a slap in the face. I am a fool. I should have known. What’s worse, Kinsley is nobody to mess with. And I’m not just talking about her attitude, either. As if my old neighborhood wasn’t bad enough, I have a feeling my new neighborhood isn’t much better. It’s been a few weeks, and already the red flags are up. When I see my neighbor’s brother in the checkout line at the grocery store, his eyes nearly pop out of his head. I’ll play this card. I think of every conceivable threat I can, but the writing is on the wall, and Dale is not afraid. Either he’s an idiot or his ego is so big I’m surprised he can fit in his three-ton truck. A double date with my best friend Lexi tells the tale, and I find myself holding up my end of a stupid bet with him that changes my life. …turns out all bets are off. This is book seven in the Ford Brothers series and I was not disappointed! I love that each brother is getting their own story and yet the other brothers and their stories are still present in each of the following books. As usual I love the personalities that Alex writes for her characters and the growth that they show throughout the story. I do wish this one was a little bit longer as there was at least two plot areas that I felt could have been explored and I wished I knew what happened or how something went. Maybe I'll get those answers in one of the next books. Another dislike for me, which may be my own personal preference, was the continued use of the word man when characters are speaking to or referring to the female characters of the story. This writing choice appears in a number of Alex's books; it rubs me the wrong way and throws off my reading flow when it happens. Overall, it was a good, quick read and I'm excited to see where things will go in the next book. 3 Stars!
