This was a unique locked door mystery. The story was told from multiple points of view and skipped back and forth in time. These multiple points of view helped to shape the story in a very interesting way from each person’s perspective, but the time jumps were a bit tricky to follow at times. There was a very large number of characters also, which I felt could have been introduced a bit more in-depth near the beginning of the book, as it was difficult to remember who’s who. Overall, the story was filled with great intrigue and mystery and multiple twists, keeping the reader guessing until the very end, and even creating enough suspicion and suspense to redirect attention onto a completely innocent character. I did guess the main twist before it was revealed, but I did not even come close to anticipating the final, ominous added twist. There were numerous typos and wording errors/omissions throughout the book which detracted from the flow of the story for me as a reader. 3 Stars!

Relive the sensuality, the romance, and the drama of Fifty Shades Freed - the love story that enthralled millions of readers around the world - through the thoughts, reflections, and dreams of Christian Grey. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/57334704-freed This 3rd book in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy from Christian's perspective is the best of the 3 in my opinion. There was tons of detail given and insights into Christian's mental health and his thought process which I found made the story much more intriguing. It was also much longer than the first 2 books from his perspective. James delivered the steamy content excellently and balanced it well with the love story, mental struggles, and mystery plot also taking place in the story. For anyone who enjoyed the original 3 books from Anastasia's perspective, I highly recommend revisiting the story through Christian's eyes through these 3 books. 5 Stars! Goodreads Synopsis: Liddy Bell shot her husband - or did she? In the middle of a party she's giving with her guests just feet away? Liddy's sister Kim, a true crime writer, struggles to prove her sister innocent. Wyatt Bell was a powerful tech CEO; the party was to celebrate the purchase and restoration of his and Liddy's 1920s mansion. No one heard the shots that killed him and wounded Liddy. The band was loud and guests were scattered. When the police declare the crime a failed murder-suicide attempt and Liddy as their suspect, her sister Kim is devastated and insists it's a setup. Wyatt's handsome brother David and Liddy's closest friends try to help Kim investigate...but questions arise. Could Liddy have only pretended to be happy, snapped, and shot her husband? Above all, Kim's worst anguish is wondering if she ever really knew her sister... With a hurricane approaching, the police put their investigation on hold, and those closest find themselves all under one roof. Relationships unravel, and Kim thinks, "This is terrifying. We're all five of us in this house. At night in a hurricane with no power...and a terrible feeling of menace. I can't shake it." https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/57861228-cry-to-me Thank you to J.A. Schneider and Book Sirens for providing me with an ebook copy of Cry to Me for my voluntary and honest review. What a suspense filled, heart-pounding thriller!! The preamble and first chapter did a phenomenal job of setting up the panicky, flustered, all over the place emotional tone that carried through the entire story. Here and there through the book there were a few awkwardly worded sentences and word choices I felt didn't quite flow, but these occurrences weren't often. Thinking back on the events of the story, there were some hints as to who the killer actually is, but Schneider did a great job keeping the focus on other suspects, until the shocking reveal! And then adding that final twist catching readers off guard, was like a gut punch of a shock! Definitely a must read for any fans of psychological thriller books! 5 Stars! |
