Goodreads Synopsis: Grant Lasker is the first guy I fell in love with. The first guy I shared everything with. I thought what we had was perfect…until I found out I was just a bet to him. All the lavish gifts and attention were nothing more than tricks to fool me. Grant always wins, no matter the collateral damage. I left him without a second glance and rebuilt my life, along with the walls around my heart. Fourteen years later, I manage to find a job that pays enough to keep my beloved grandfather in a private assisted-living center. There is just one problem… The person I need to work for is Grant, and he seems to think I’m the one who betrayed him and is doing everything in his power to make my life hell. But if he thinks he's going to win again, he has another think coming. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/64404219-the-ex-i-d-love-to-hate Thank you to Nadia Lee and Literally Yours PR for providing me with an ebook copy of The Ex I'd Love to Hate for me to read and review. Whew, What a ride! This story took me through ALL the emotions. I found the 2 main characters intriguing and their backstories were unique and interesting. Lee showed their personalities and habits very well and the challenges and hardships they faced kept me wanting to know more. There was excellent growth and development shown by both characters throughout the story and I loved the undeniable pull and fiery chemistry between them. This book felt a bit long and slow moving at times, but overall a great read. I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves an emotional, dramatic romance with a bit of spice. 4 Stars!

Goodreads Synopsis: From New York Times bestselling author Rachel Hawkins comes a deliciously wicked gothic suspense, set at an Italian villa with a dark history, for fans of Lucy Foley and Ruth Ware. As kids, Emily and Chess were inseparable. But by their 30s, their bond has been strained by the demands of their adult lives. So when Chess suggests a girls trip to Italy, Emily jumps at the chance to reconnect with her best friend. Villa Aestas in Orvieto is a high-end holiday home now, but in 1974, it was known as Villa Rosato, and rented for the summer by a notorious rock star, Noel Gordon. In an attempt to reignite his creative spark, Noel invites up-and-coming musician, Pierce Sheldon to join him, as well as Pierce’s girlfriend, Mari, and her stepsister, Lara. But he also sets in motion a chain of events that leads to Mari writing one of the greatest horror novels of all time, Lara composing a platinum album––and ends in Pierce’s brutal murder. As Emily digs into the villa’s complicated history, she begins to think there might be more to the story of that fateful summer in 1974. That perhaps Pierce’s murder wasn’t just a tale of sex, drugs, and rock & roll gone wrong, but that something more sinister might have occurred––and that there might be clues hidden in the now-iconic works that Mari and Lara left behind. Yet the closer that Emily gets to the truth, the more tension she feels developing between her and Chess. As secrets from the past come to light, equally dangerous betrayals from the present also emerge––and it begins to look like the villa will claim another victim before the summer ends. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/60784641-the-villa Thank you to Rachel Hawkins, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for providing me with an ebook copy of The Villa for me to read and review. This book had an interesting plot and unique characters that showed good growth and development throughout the book. I had high hopes for this book and while I found the story interesting, this book didn't truly draw me in until the final 20% which was disappointing. I saw a number of the twists coming and there was one detail in particular that I really wanted to know but was never fully revealed. I was glad that the story got more intriguing at the end, but I would have liked to see that earlier. 3 Stars! Goodreads Synopsis: If Janet Evanovich’s signature character were a single mom, she’d answer to the name Maggie Chessman. In Shampoo & Condition, Vivian, Maggie’s soon to be ex sister-in-law, drops dead in a beauty salon and Maggie’s brother becomes suspect number one – creating friction between our main character and her policeman boyfriend. What can a girl do but pursue other suspects: Vivian’s shifty sisters, a smooth financial operator, and a secretive shampoo girl. Meanwhile, Maggie’s best friend is matching corpses with missing persons on the Jane Doe website, eventually spotting a dead person in their midst. Shampoo & Condition by M.L. Ortega | Goodreads Thank you to M.L. Ortega and Booksprout for providing me with an ebook copy of Shampoo & Condition for me to read and review. This was a short and sweet cozy mystery. I do wish that the wrap up of the mystery was not quick as quick as it felt like it was wrapped up and over in no time at all before the main character even had a chance to suspect any of the villains. There was one point the the story where the wrong name was used and it really brought my reading to a halt. A bit more editing and fleshing out the ending could be in order, but overall it was a sweet, quick, quirky read. 3 Stars! Synopsis: A close proximity second chance romance with slow burn steam and a lot of heart. Jami has never put herself first. After disaster struck her family, Jami put her life on hold to take care of everyone but herself. A new tragedy sends her reeling and makes her face the unhealthy romantic relationship she’s accepted. Jami reaches out to the person who once offered to help, but gets sent a stand-in instead. Malcolm has never felt like a hero. Only his cousin could convince Malcolm to take in a wounded woman on the edge of breaking. With angsty pasts healed through love, and heroes who are gentle everywhere but in bed, The Last Shot Tavern series contains interconnected standalones with no cliff hangers. Thank you to Amber Warden and Book Sirens for providing me withan ebook copy of Finding Hope for me to read and review. This is the 4th book in The Last Shot Tavern series and they just keep getting better every time! What an incredible story of strength and overcoming obstacles and huge character growth. And the slow burn..... Sooo hot! The chemistry between the two characters is so powerful. I can't wait to see where this series will go next! 5 Stars! **I recommend downloading and reading the additional novella that is a prequel showing Malcolm and Jami's first encounter back in high school! It is so good!** |
