Goodreads Synopsis: She dots her ‘I’s wearing Prada. He squeals to fans shirtless. When a deadly meeting changes everything, will she heed the threat, or take the plunge? Everyone calls him Slick, but I was raised in a home where everything was proper. Sean and I meet in an odd place, under dire circumstances, so nobody would ever expect what happened…to happen…but it did. A rock star and a psychologist seem like an impossible match. And it is. That’s why I have to leave, before everything is ruined. I can’t be with him for so many reasons, as much as every cell in my body says that it’s right. Evidently, he agrees that we should be together, since he leaves breadcrumbs for me…but will they lead me back to him? She can’t even say my name. With a name like Slick, one expects some surfer-type, with nothing between his ears and a stake where his heart should be. Listen to my music and you’ll see. I’m somewhere between not much and kinda something, you know? But Doc, she’s…something else. The way she handled things on the roof that night…If it weren’t for one thing, she’d be mine. That one night. I should have done it differently. Then she’d still be here. But I can’t take it back…or…can I? …and just when we think we’re past danger, just when I think that the band has it all, and that I’ve got Doc, too, an unexpected person walks in, and I know that we’re back to square one again. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59562002-jump **Spoiler alert**Thank you to Sandra Alex for providing me with an ebook advanced reader copy of Jump for me to read and review. This is yet another one of Alex's books that I flew through so fast as I did not want to put it down! The fast pace of the story was set from the very first page. There was excellent, gradual character development shown throughout the book! The chemistry between the main characters was off the charts! This book does include situations involving mental health and suicide, and I felt that Alex did a wonderful job of portraying these in a very real but respectful manner, while promoting seeking help if you find yourself struggling with your mental health. The cliffhanger at the end has left me with many questions and I can't wait to read the next book in the series to see where the story is going to go next! 4 Stars!

Goodreads Synopsis: Twentysomething Kat Reid is loving life as an in-demand Hollywood makeup artist. Nico feels it, too—and becomes determined to win Kat over, body and soul. Yet behind his rock god swagger, Nico hides a dark secret. Can he rock Kat’s world forever, or will he just break her heart? https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24933557-sweet-as-sin I absolutely devoured this book! I stayed up way too late reading it because I could not put it down! As always, Geissinger's use of witty and sarcastic humor in the dialogue, thoughts and situations had me laughing throughout the novel. The characters were all so unique and interesting with their own set of dark pasts I loved seeing their development through the course of the story. The flow of the story was fast paced with a roller coaster of events that I could not have predicted. I can't wait to see where the story goes in the next book! 5 Stars! Will she be able to confront her past, learn to move on, and learn to love herself? Unexpected Departure by Shannon O'Connor | Goodreads Thank you to Shannon O'Connor for providing me with an ebook advanced reader copy of Unexpected Departure for me to read and review. This is an interesting story of a woman finding herself after experiencing prejudicial views and challenging relationships for a big portion of her life. I enjoyed seeing the character grow and learn about herself. The author included alot of big life experiences and challenges that I think many if not all readers will be able to relate to. At times I wished the story was a bit faster paced and ultimately I feel like this acted for me almost as a prequel and is a great introduction to the characters that will be a part of the rest of the series and I am excited to see where their lives will take them. 4 Stars! Goodreads Synopsis: Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day before her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist. Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon—and simultaneously his novel—be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak? November 9 by Colleen Hoover | Goodreads What an astounding story filled with ups, downs, twists, and turns. Some of the dips and turns deep enough and sharp enough they left me shocked and overwhelmed by the direction the story was taking. As usual, Hoover's writing had me so addicted that I did not want to stop reading and I flew through the book anxious to find out what would happen next. The character's emotions, experiences, and growth are so well written that I felt I could truly empathize with many of their experiences. To say the final third of the book is a gut punch is putting it lightly. What an unexpected, heart wrenching but yet freeing and uplifting way to conclude the story! Definitely a novel I will be talking about and recommending! 5 Stars! Goodreads Synopsis: After serving five years in prison for a tragic mistake, Kenna Rowan returns to the town where it all went wrong, hoping to reunite with her four-year-old daughter. But the bridges Kenna burned are proving impossible to rebuild. Everyone in her daughter’s life is determined to shut Kenna out, no matter how hard she works to prove herself. The only person who hasn’t closed the door on her completely is Ledger Ward, a local bar owner and one of the few remaining links to Kenna’s daughter. But if anyone were to discover how Ledger is slowly becoming an important part of Kenna’s life, both would risk losing the trust of everyone important to them. The two form a connection despite the pressure surrounding them, but as their romance grows, so does the risk. Kenna must find a way to absolve the mistakes of her past in order to build a future out of hope and healing. Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover | Goodreads What a book! This book took me on a journey through a rollercoaster of emotions. It brought me laughter, anger, happiness, sadness and hope all numerous times throughout the story. The excellent character development and growth had me so connected and empathetic to each character that it had me feeling all the feelings right alongside them. What a unique and moving story! This is definitely one that is going to be stuck in my mind for a long time. 5 Stars! Goodreads Synopsis: Wherever you go… she’ll be watching. Sarah Goldman, mother to six-year-old Jacob, is relieved to move across the country. She has a lot she wants to leave behind, especially Holly Monroe, the pretty twenty-two-year-old babysitter she and her husband, Daniel, hired to take care of their young son last summer. It started out as a perfect arrangement—Sarah had a childminder her son adored, and Holly found the mother figure she’d always wanted. But Sarah’s never been one to trust very easily, so she kept a close eye on Holly, maybe too close at times. What she saw raised some questions, not only about who Holly really was but what she was hiding. The more Sarah watched, the more she learned—until one day, she saw something she couldn’t unsee, something so shocking that all she could do was flee. Sarah has put it all behind her and is starting over in a different city with her husband and son. They’ve settled into a friendly suburb where the neighbors, a tight clique of good citizens, are always on the lookout for danger. But when Sarah finds hidden cameras in her new home, she has to wonder: Has her past caught up to her, and worse yet, who’s watching her now? Watch Out for Her by Samantha M. Bailey | Goodreads Thank you to Samantha M. Bailey, Simon & Schuster Canada, and NetGalley for providing me with an ebook advance reader copy of Watch Out for Her for me to read and review. What an excellent story filled with unexpected events. I found myself constantly holding my breath wondering what was about to happen next. There was a fairly large cast of characters involved in the story in one way or another, and although I did initially find it tricky to keep them all straight in my mind, it didn't take long for me to feel connected to the characters and intrigued by their interesting and very multi-faceted personalities. Many times throughout the book I found myself surprised by a turn of events and I was kept guessing right until the end. I was happy that closure was given to readers as the story came to a end. Definitely one to recommend! 4 Stars! |
