Goodreads Synopsis: Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in…well, everything. Her identical twin sister Ami, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancé is something out of a romantic comedy (gag) and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of Internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man. Olive braces herself to get through 24 hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. But when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from eating bad shellfish, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. And now there’s an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs. Putting their mutual hatred aside for the sake of a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head for paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him is suddenly at risk to become a whole lot bigger. She and Ethan now have to pretend to be loving newlyweds, and her luck seems worse than ever. But the weird thing is that she doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, she feels kind of... lucky. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42201431-the-unhoneymooners What a fantastic story! It was such an addictive book I did not want to put it down but I also did not want it to end. It grabbed my attention and was full of entertainment right from the start. The characters were interesting and well developed through out the book. The plot was full of humor, sarcasm, and witty exchanges making me continually laugh out loud while reading! I can see this story being stellar as a movie, so I really hope to see it made into one in the future. Highly recommend this book! 5 Stars!

Goodreads Synopsis: Pay close attention and you might solve this. On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention. Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule. Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess. Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing. Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher. And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High's notorious gossip app. Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention Simon's dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn't an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he'd planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who's still on the loose? Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58679358-one-of-us-is-lying What a wild ride! I both loved the use of multiple perspectives to tell the story and also at times found it a bit hard to follow. I did suspect the outcome from quite early on in the story, which was a bit disappointing, but the story still kept me enthralled and wondering what was going to happen next. I am really looking forward to seeing the TV adaptation of this book and continuing to follow the story in book two. 3.5 Stars! Goodreads Synopsis: A suspense-filled psychological romance thriller – when two lonely hearts find each other, what could possibly go wrong? Nothing good has ever happened to Chris Davis. He lost his parents at the age of sixteen in a car wreck that left him with a deformity. Chris has given up on finding true love after a series of heartbreaks. He’s content to survive on the meager salary he earns as a janitor in one of Kayla Morrison's chain of hotels. Chris is about to dispose of the contents in a trash can when a local paper falls out and drops at his feet. An ad on the front page catches his attention – a woman named Kayla Renae is searching for love and wants to communicate through letters. Chris responds to the ad and exchanges letters and emails with Kayla Renae Morrison, a wealthy, lonely woman searching for love. He doesn’t know he’s been communicating with the owner of the Morrison hotel where he works. Each letter they exchange makes him feel like they have known each other for years. His and Kayla's love story is the kind of romance he has always dreamt of. They sign off every letter with, ‘Call me yours.’ They talk about everything – from the names of their unborn children to Kayla’s personal struggles. Especially, Kayla’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Adi, is constantly in and out of trouble. Adi has been skipping classes and sneaking out of the house to attend late-night parties. Kayla’s also afraid for her life. When Kayla doesn't show up on their first date in their favorite hot chocolate shop, the Cocomo café, Chris thinks she decided not to see him because of his financial status. Days later, Kayla reaches out to him and assures him of her love. When she doesn't show up on subsequent dates, Chris starts to dig into her past. Someone else is asking questions about Kayla too, whoever they are, may unearth a dark well-kept secret that will make their happily-ever-after impossible. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59464327-call-me-yours Thank you to Megs Hudson for providing me with an ebook copy of Call Me Yours for me to review. What a unique, interesting plot. This psychological romantic thriller is filled with suspense, hope, intrigue and mystery. The writing is descriptive and captivating drawing readers in right from the very first paragraph. There were many interesting characters introduced throughout the first half of the book without very much background about them provided, some of them seemingly unconnected to one another, but Hudson teased us with just enough alluring information to make you question how all the pieces will end up fitting together. And what a surprising turn of events to bring all the characters and their roles in the story together! I did not see that explanation coming! There were a couple of pieces of the puzzle that I am still thinking about and questioning now! For any readers who love psychological thrillers, suspense, or romance I recommend Call Me Yours! 4 Stars! |
