Goodreads Synopsis: Louise is a single mom, a secretary, stuck in a modern-day rut. On a rare night out, she meets a man in a bar and sparks fly. Though he leaves after they kiss, she’s thrilled she finally connected with someone. When Louise arrives at work on Monday, she meets her new boss, David. The man from the bar. The very married man from the bar…who says the kiss was a terrible mistake but who still can’t keep his eyes off Louise. And then Louise bumps into Adele, who’s new to town and in need of a friend, but she also just happens to be married to David. David and Adele look like the picture-perfect husband and wife, but then why is David so controlling, and why is Adele so scared of him? As Louise is drawn into David and Adele’s orbit, she uncovers more puzzling questions than answers. The only thing that is crystal clear is that something in this marriage is very, very wrong, but Louise can’t guess how wrong―and how far a person might go to protect their marriage’s secrets. What an excellent combination of romance, suspense, sci-fi, and mystery! This book kept me wondering and unsure until the very end. I was completely caught off guard by the twists at the end and could have never expected how the story wrapped up. There is definitely some odd fantasy ideas included that force readers to suspend their disbelief in order to enjoy the flow of the story, but if you can let your imagination go there, it is one wild ride of a story! There is definitely room left in the ending for more to be written and I would pick up a second book about these characters in a heart beat! 5 Stars! **This book has been made into a limited series TV show on Netflix**

Goodreads Synopsis: In this gripping page-turner, an ex-agent on the run from her former employers must take one more case to clear her name and save her life. She used to work for the U.S. government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning. Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They've killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon. When her former handler offers her a way out, she realizes it's her only chance to erase the giant target on her back. But it means taking one last job for her ex-employers. To her horror, the information she acquires only makes her situation more dangerous. Resolving to meet the threat head-on, she prepares for the toughest fight of her life but finds herself falling for a man who can only complicate her likelihood of survival. As she sees her choices being rapidly whittled down, she must apply her unique talents in ways she never dreamed of. This book truly surprised me! I was expecting to enjoy it, but I did not want to put it down once I started reading. It was so full of suspense, mystery, action, romance, and even humor. It was a refreshing, engaging book very unique from Meyer's other works. ***Spoiler Alert*** My only disappointment was that in the end we didn't find out if they got to go back to get Lola. The dog lover in me really wanted to have that conclusive closure. Meyer left this unsaid, so I am going to hope they were able to. 5 Stars! Goodreads Synopsis: A locked room. A dead body. A secret that went to the grave. When retired police officer Finlay Shaw is found dead in a locked room, everyone thinks it's suicide. But disgraced detective William 'Wolf' Fawkes isn't so sure. Together with his former partner Detective Emily Baxter and private detective Edmunds, Wolf's team begin to dig into Shaw's early days on the beat. Was Shaw as innocent as he seemed? Or is there more to his past than he'd ever let on? But not everyone wants Wolf back - and as his investigation draws him ever deeper into police corruption, it will not only be his career on the line - but the lives of those he holds closest as well... Excellent mix of suspense, mystery, and emotional drama, with a hint of romantic tension! I really hope Daniel Cole will write more of the Fawkes/Baxter storyline! 4 Stars! Goodreads Synopsis: Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now? Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere. Regardless of why Evelyn has selected her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career. Summoned to Evelyn’s luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the ‘80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love. Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the legendary star, but as Evelyn’s story near its conclusion, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways. This was an great book. It is a great story about a very strong woman and her struggles in life. One thing I wasn't as impressed with was the representation of Monique's character. I wish there had been a bit more development of that character before the end of the story. If I had felt more connected to that character before the end, I would have been more affected by the twist. That being said, it was a heart wrenching tale at times with the some of the other characters stories. I loved the inclusion of the media/news articles placed between the chapters to give another viewpoint of the events happening at that point in the story. I felt that this was a very unique way to give balance to a story told by the main character herself. 4 Stars!
